Election fever

http://images.indianexpress.com/
Dear readers,

It's so good to be finally back in blogger. It's been ages since I last wrote. I have been so busy with high school. Anyway, today let's talk about elections. State elections are here and now that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has started giving some major competition to the age old Congress party , both the parties have made it so apparent that the only motive right now, is to be in power. The ideals of democracy are still alive, but only in theories, in text books. In reality, we have slaughtered them long ago and although we know that, yet our textbook writers hardly seem to take note of that. You know, every party is forming alliances just to ensure more seats in the Assembly. Where did all the ideals go, the ideals which supposedly gave rise to that party? They are forming alliances without even considering whether the ideals of both the parties coincide or not.

It scares me. The fact that Indian Politics is going in the direction of being doomed, it scares me a lot. India, still is a young nation and it's been only 64 years of freedom. India still has lots to work upon but the progress is being manipulated and is being hindered by this political system. Maybe, you'd think I am over exaggerating things but no. This is what today's youth think.

We are vulnerable to be lured into politics. Students unions are attractive, I agree. They are supposed to make us more politically aware. Why? because the future of our nation is us. But that is an ideal, hypothetical notion. The reality is "buddhe desh chala rahe hai aur youth hawa kha raha hain" (the old people are running the country and the youth is busy in somehow making the time pass by) and this is sad. But it's not their fault. If today's youth doesn't realize it's responsibiity then, someone will have to run the country.

What's more saddening? People don't want to vote! Everybody feels that there are hardly any choice given and at the end of the day, everyone bears just one notion "All politicians are same: corrupt and self-centred"

Hoping for a better future,
Namrata
