Voicing Our Opinions.Being Indian.

If you are living in India then chances are you are familiar with the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. So far, this has been one of the most successful schemes launched in India. Sadly, it is about cleaning India but not about CLEANING INDIANS. From historical times the national pride of India has been besmeared  by us ourselves. We are talking about cleaning roads smeared with dried up blood of the poor victims of rape, we are talking about cleaning drains and rivers in which the victims who couldn't survive were drowned in. Are we talking about eradicating rape? Are we talking about empowering Indian women? No, these are insignificant issues after all, aren't they? From early childhood we are told of the greatness of our motherland, our history books used to be full of allegories of India, of the historical devotion towards Bharat Mata. Is this how we repay her for bearing us as her children, by hurting her daughters?

Our problem is that we FORGET. You. I. Us. We all forget, no matter how much injustice we have to fight against, we forget. Did we not forget what happened to Damini after hitting the roads for two-three days, shouting for justice? Did we get justice? NO. We didn't. Were we able to get past our fears and break our walls that we women have engulfed our souls within? NO. Yet, we forgot. Why do I and why do you, need to see ten times behind us to check if someone is following us, fearing that we may be another victim? In this world no one can protect us alone, all of us need to protect each other and protect ourselves. This world has taught us that we are responsible if we are victims of rape. There is a part of our education which we don't receive inside the four walls of our classroom and that part of education decide what we will grow up to be... Human or Inhuman. Ironically, if we think of it, we are living in a world in which we are the victims of rape and we ourselves are the culprit of rape.

Lets voice our opinions. What do you gain from living in dread that someday you would be raped? We cannot kill the issue of Sexual abuse but we can attack the rapist inside us all. This happiness and comfort that we don't want to let go of, is so instantaneous. Do you want to take your last breath regretting that time when you backed down from revolting for yourself, your family, your future, for the mother who gave birth to you and each of us or do you want to take your last breathe, proud of being a soldier and a true patriot? Because something needs to be done. Neither you nor I want to be the next Nirvaya or  the next Amaanat. We don't want to die in such a tragic way, in the hands of monsters. We have the right to live, insignificant of whichever background we belong to. But for that we need to fight...morally and emotionally. Lets voice our opinions, lets educate India and enlighten Indians in the right directions, lets do all that we can. We have a mission at hand people, yes, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, only now, we know another aspect of it.
